I would say thats the best choice, but it would be nice to see Kronwall get it and give him some extra motivation to step his game up and try to fill in Lidstrom’s spot on the blue line.

You’re a bit off target – Nobody will every fill Lidstrom’s spot. It’ll take 2 or 3 guys to do it, but guys like Kronwall and White and Ericsson already know how big the task ahead is.
